Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano within her loft and being amazed by its sound. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to explore music and not just as a profession or a hobby, but to grow. Therefore, she created making her own lyrics. Her sources include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan along with her love of Bjork's style. The singer decided to perform the songs she wrote publicly after her mother suggested that they might help others not gain fame through her work but to make people see around them realize their importance and the ways they impact the world. She started playing piano when she was just six and was writing her first song when she was nine. She didn't tell her family about it until the age of 14. Aurora wasn't a dream. Her words say that she simply is a fan of writing songs. To her, music is the best way for expressing anything.
